Colleton Prep Academy is a small private school located in Walterboro South Carolina. The school competes In The South Carolina Independent School Association class 2A league. We offer athletics for students from 1st grade through 12th grade. We offer five levels of competition from Varsity to Junior varsity,middle school to elementary and Intramurals for our youngest athletes. Over 90 percent of our students participate in athletics.
Philosophy
Colleton Preparatory Academy strives to develop young people in mind, body and spirit. In that regard, the Colleton Prep athletic program is an integral part of the School’s mission. Similar to all other areas of the School, the athletic program is designed to promote a commitment to excellence. The School believes that competitive team sports represent an important opportunity for young people to experience the values of long-range goal-setting, long-range planning, sacrificial collaboration, commitment to others, and valuing the importance of each person’s contribution. The School does not believe in "winning at all costs" but rather achieving excellence as a team through hard work, determination, fair play, sportsmanship, and accepting the role each is asked to play.
Coaches
Colleton Prep's coaching staff is known around the state as one of the finest group of coaches in the business. The staff is made up of four full-time employees and over twenty volunteers who have amassed over 100 years of coaching experience at the Academy alone. The fact that we have very little turn-over in coaches every year is a testament to the success of the athletic program as a whole.
Awards
Colleton Prep athletics was awarded the James C.Williams Jr. Presidents Cup in 2002, 2003, 2004,2005,and 2006. The award is an annual award presented to the outstanding athletic program in SCISA. The award is based upon a school's total athletic performance for a school year, including:region standing, play-off appearances,and championships won. No school, in the history of the award, has won the award so many times in a row.
